Improvement of feed efficiency in monogastric farm animals through genetics

My research and interest is to genetically improve feed efficiency in monogastric farm animals (especially, pigs and minks) by using cutting edge technologies along with developing statistical methods to obtain a better indication of feed efficiency to be used in practical breeding programs. In overall my goal is to further increase sustainability of pork and fur production.

Currently I am involved in an European project on improving feed efficiency in purebred and crossbred pigs using longitudinal recorded performance traits (feed intake, body weight and body composition) along with genomic (whole genome sequence and high and low genotyping) information. In addition, I am working on longitudinal estimation of feed efficiency using pedigree and genomic (RAD-Sequence) information on farmed minks.
